Serenus Float and Wellness Center will be such a needed and excellent addition to the city of Bloomington and its patrons. I am extremely excited to see the new float center come to life, and try out the relaxation tanks myself!!!

We will provide you with all the amenities you will need such as towels, robes, earplugs, and anything else you may need for a superior Serenus experience. We even have a Vanity room equipped with hair blow dryers, make-up mirrors, make-up wipes, and hand, face, and body lotion.
There is no need to be afraid of becoming claustrophobic in the float tank, you will be in complete control of the lid on the float tank. It is light weight and easy to open. You will be able to exit the pod at any point. However, most people who suffer from claustrophobia say it really is not a problem as you lose sense of the walls surrounding you. If you still think you may be affected by this, you can use our Float Pool.
You will stay buoyant the entire time so there is no reason not to
Nope! The Epsom salts allow for natural buoyancy, so all you have to do is slide in on your back and relax. It may take a few minutes to adjust to the new sensation and allow your body to fully “let go”, and you’ll find that the experience deepens with each session as you learn how to slip deeper and deeper into utter relaxation.
Avoid shaving around 2 hours before your Float, as the saltwater may cause some irritation. Caffeine could interfere with your ability to relax. A heavy meal just before Floating is not advised, but you also don’t want to hear your stomach growling so eating approximately 1-2 hours before is best. Towels, earplugs, and all amenities are provided for you, all you need to bring is yourself…and leave your worries at the front door.
Nothing at all. (naked… birthday suit… totally free from clothing… buck naked). You want as little sensory stimulation against your skin as possible!
All of our services allow you to move back into the hustle and bustle of life right afterwards, but you’ll feel better doing it! Just plan enough time after your service so you don’t feel rushed getting back to your hectic life. You will know if floating is best for you in the morning or at night after a few floats. It is different for each user.
Rule of thumb is you should wait at least 7 days after getting your hair dyed to float. While there is no guarantee that the salt/H2O2 won’t strip some color from your hair, we recommend that you check if the water running through your hair in the shower at home is fully clear. If there is still some color coming out you should wait a couple of more days/showers.
Yes we do. You can find all of pricing and membership here
To extend the life of the filtration system and keep the water as clean as possible, we highly encourage you to shower before your float here at Serenus to minimize bacterial transfer into our tanks. Showering after your float is also important to remove the coating of Epsom salt that is left on the skin and hair.
We will not allow you to float if you have any of the following conditions:
We expect you to inform us of any conditions for your own safety and the safety of other floaters! We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone at any time.
Yes, women within their second and third trimesters and only after clearance from their physicians or midwives. Pregnant women probably get more relief from floating than most people. The extra weight carried by the mother-to-be can be very stressful due to the forces of gravity. Floating eliminates the negative effects of gravity which can cause joint pain, inflammation, and stress on the organs as well as the unborn baby.
Pregnant women have also reported a reduction of erratic movements of the baby inside the womb. This is due to a phenomenon called the “mirror effect”. The baby is safe and secure inside the womb and the mother shares a similar experience in the warm isolation tank. Women report a stronger connection with their baby when exposed to this environment.
There is over 1000 pounds of USP grade Epsom salt dissolved each tank. The solution is so high in salt that no living microorganism can survive. After each session, the entire volume of the solution is filtered through a 3 part filtration and sterilization system 5 times utilizing Ultra Violet light and H2O2, which is an oxidizer that will kill any bacteria, viruses, fungi and algae, and is NOT a carcinogen, so it won’t hurt you! UV is the safest, most effective system available. It maintains the water’s soft, clean, and crystal clear appearance. We also use natural enzymes. In addition all clients are required to shower and be 100% clean prior to entering the tank.
It’s best to not be hungry or very full before floating, somewhere in the middle is just right. As you do not want to feel or hear your stomach in the floatation tank. Do not wear contacts into the float tanks, and please remember to bring your saline solution and contact lens case to store your lenes. Do not drink caffeine; Do not shave the morning before your float; men can shave their faces as they are not submerged in the salt water but the salt water will sting shaved legs, heads, armpits or anywhere else on the body besides the face.
Yes, although there is little documentation of their responses. Children have found it easier to dismiss their fears of being in a dark, enclosed space after only a few sessions of float therapy. Further research is being conducted on autistic children and the affects of Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST). It seems that sensory deprivation provokes positive changes in learning, social behavior, and cognitive function in autistic children
In this age of instant gratification and mult-tasking it can be very difficult to not put expectations on everything that we do. We suggest that you approach your float with compassionate curiosity and allow yourself to simply be in the moment. Know that whatever your experience, your body is receiving the benefits of deep relaxation and everyone’s float is different.
Yes, if you want to make use of floating’s full potential. Most users understand floating’s benefits after the 3rd or 4th float. Those who see it after the first time are immediately hooked.

Cryotherapy happens in a 2-3 minute session, where the body is gradually exposed to -230 degree temperatures. This exposure bio-hacks the body into thinking its in a extremely cold environment, putting the body into fight-or-flight mode, allowing for the release of endorphins, shock proteins, and anti-inflammatory proteins which help to manage pain, reduce inflammation, and speed up muscle/tissue recovery.
The following conditions are contraindications to Whole Body Cryotherapy:
